Citytv anchor Mark Dailey honoured at prostate cancer run

CityNews reporter and anchor Mark Dailey was honoured Saturday at a run to raise money for prostate cancer research.

Racers in the 33rd annual Harry’s Spring Run Off paused for a moment of silence for “The Voice,” who passed away on December 6, 2010. Dailey was 57.

Dailey was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2004 and went on to become a brave and vocal advocate for men’s health, raising awareness and money through his unyielding efforts. He often emceed the Harry’s Spring Run Off.

A record 5,000 runners and walkers took part in Saturday’s High Park race.

“”We are so proud to say that after six years, we have reached $2 million with the $350,000 from Saturday’s run,” said Larry Rosen, CEO and chairman of Harry Rosen Inc.

The money will go the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

In September, 2010, Dailey announced on air that he was suffering from kidney cancer.  A few short months later, the cancer spread to his lungs, ending his remarkable life.

Dailey is survived by his wife, Kim, and his daughter Nicole.
