Man escapes police at Brampton courthouse

Police have arrested a suspect they claim helped a man escape from authorities at a Brampton courthouse last week.

Peel Regional Police are looking for Yul Delano Styles-Lyons, who was supposed to be in court on drugs and weapons charges but managed to slip away from authorities at the A. Grenville and William Davis courthouse Friday.

He assumed the name of a fellow prisoner and was released, police said.

On Tuesday authorities said they’ve arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly helping Styles-Lyons. Damian Mills is charged with assist in escape and is due in court May 25.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Styles-Lyons and authorities are urging him to contact a lawyer and turn himself in.

Styles-Lyons is described as: black, 6’, 160lbs., with brown eyes and short, black afro-style hair. He was last seen wearing black jeans, a red shirt and a brown leather jacket. Police consider him armed and dangerous.

If you spot him call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS. If you have any other information on his whereabouts, call Peel police at (905) 453-2121, ext. 2233.
