Woman found dead in home near York University

Toronto Police tell CityNews that a woman has been found dead in the basement of a home housing York University students.

However, the residence is not affiliated with the university.

Emergency crews were called to Aldwinckle Heights, near Keele Street and Finch Avenue, around 11 a.m.

“Police responded to an unknown trouble call at this residence. We located a deceased female. The circumstances in which she was located were very concerning to us,” Insp. Edward Boyd told reporters on Friday.

Police say there were obvious signs of trauma. The homicide squad is investigating.

An official from the Chinese consulate was also at the home. It’s believe the victim’s mother lives in China. The official wouldn’t confirm the identity of the mother or the daughter.

The victim is believed to be an Asian woman in her early 20s.
