Mayor’s niece trying out for Lingerie Football League

Mayor Rob Ford’s niece is garnering some attention, but not for political ambitions. Krista Ford, Coun. Doug Ford’s daughter, is trying out for the Lingerie Football League.

Krista Ford, who studies business administration at Humber College, posted a tweet Monday about training for the league’s upcoming tryouts on April 30. LFL plans to debut its newest team — the Toronto Triumph — this fall. Ricoh Coliseum will host the team’s home games.

The mayor’s niece provided another update on her training schedule Thursday.

“What rain? Sprints at the stadium! All out baby. Training for #LFL tryouts! 3 days left!” she tweeted.

On her Twitter account, Krista Ford said she’s “built FORD tough!!” She also notes, “I don’t want to be Barbie, I want to bench press her.”

Rob Ford expressed his support for his niece on Twitter Thursday: “My niece Krista is trying out for lingerie football – we wish her all the best!”

The league’s obvious premise is good looking, athletic women playing tackle football in bras and panties. The LFL covers travel expenses, but its players — some who’ve been featured in Playboy — aren’t paid.

The Ford family is known for its love of football. Rob Ford coaches high school ball and his brother is known for being an avid NFL fan and is hoping to bring a franchise to Toronto.

Krista Ford was a flag football MVP two years running at Richview Collegiate, according to a report in the Toronto Star.
