Federal, provincial elections to overlap in Ontario in 2015

A municipal, federal and provincial elections all falling within a year may have some voters feeling exasperated but voter fatigue may be a real problem in four years because of fixed election dates.

The next federal election is slated to happen on Oct. 19, 2015 as per the fixed vote law – Bill C-16 — passed by the Conservatives in 2006. That vote falls just a week and a half after Ontarians head to the polls.

Ontario also has a fixed election dates rule.

There could be some respite: the law states the prime minister can request an election at any time and Stephen Harper did in 2008.
