Fifth person charged in Markham home invasion, murder

York Regional Police have charged a fifth person in connection with a murder and home invasion in Markham, an attack they claim was organized by the victims’ daughter.

Lenford Roy Crawford, 28, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Officers were called to a home on Helen Avenue, near Kennedy Road and Highway 407, around 10:30 p.m. on November 8, 2010.  When they arrived, they found the body of 53-year-old Bieh-Ha Pan, who’d been shot several times.

Pan’s husband, 57-year-old Huei Hann Pan, was also inside the home suffering from serious gunshot wounds. He survived the attack.

Their daughter Jennifer Pan told police she was tied up after three armed men burst into the home in what investigators initially believed was a random act. She said she managed to break free and call 911.

However, authorities say Pan is the alleged organizer of the attack.

She was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Eric Carty, 31, David Mylbaganam, 22, and Daniel Chi-Kwong Wong, 25, are also in custody.
