Hague deliberating warrant for Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi’s arrest

The International Criminal Court in the Hague is deliberating whether to issue an arrest warrant for Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi

Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the chief prosecutor at the Netherlands court, made the request on Monday. The warrant also names Gadhafi’s son, Saif al-Isam, and Libya’s intelligence chief Abdullah Sanussi – who is Gadhafi’s brother-in-law.

The trio is accused of crimes against humanity, after a crackdown on rebels in Libya appeared to target civilians.

Meanwhile, Britain’s defence secretary said Monday that NATO and its allies are prepared for a lengthy air campaign in Libya.

Liam Fox said contingency plans are in place for a variety of scenarios, but he is hoping Gadhafi will resign.

Fox also confirmed NATO is discussing what additional facilities could be targeted under the U.N. Security Council resolutions authorizing the campaign.
