One person sent to hospital after Markham house fire

One man was rushed to hospital after an overnight fire gutted a home in the McCowan Road and Major Mackenzie Drive area Sunday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 4960 Elgin Mills Rd around 3:30 a.m.
Despite the best efforts of firefighters, flames destroyed the home, leaving only the foundation still standing.
One man was transported to hospital, suffering from burns. He’s expected to recover.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
