Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ jacket up for auction later this month

You may have impressed your friends with the knock-off “Thriller” jacket you had when you were a kid and now you can have the real thing if you can afford to cough up at least $200,000.

The iconic and autographed leather jacket Michael Jackson wore in the “Thriller” video will be up for auction later this month in Beverly Hills.

Julien’s Auctions will be accepting bids on the red and black leather coat June 25 and 26th at the Music Icons sale and it’s expected to fetch at least $200,000, according to auction administrator Darren Julien.
Jackson gave the jacket to his longtime costume designers Dennis Tompkins and Michael Bush.

You could also bid on a spangled glove to match. Also on the auction block: a wig the pop icon wore during his “This Is It” concert series in London, a fedora, his shirt from the “Scream” video and a mailbox from the estate where Jackson died in 2009.

A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the jacket will go to the Shambala Preserve — that’s where Jackson’s two Bengal tigers have been living since 2006.

One of Eric Clapton’s guitars, Frank Sinatra’s leather boots and 1986 Jaguar, handwritten lyrics and a leather coast from Johnny Cash, another jacket and guitars from Elvis Presley and a signed harmonica from Bob Dylan are among other items that will be up for auction.
