More than 100,000 customers without power after storms

Tens of thousands of people across the southern part of the province are still without power after series of violent storms Wednesday evening.

Approximately 111,000 Hydro One customers between Peterborough and Ottawa don’t have power and the company says electricity may not be restored until the weekend.

In Tweed, about 22,500 customers are affected, about 16,000 in Peterborough, and lights are still out for another 6,000 in Muskoka.

Hydro One says hundreds of poles were broken, so crews are also working to fix them.

Helicopters and extra crews were sent out Thursday to assess the damage.
