Pregnant Tori Spelling crashes car into preschool after paparazzo chase

An ordinary drive to preschool turned into a paparazzi chase for Tori Spelling — with terrifying consequences.

On Monday afternoon, Spelling, 38, tweeted that she had been driving her children to preschool that morning when a paparazzo began chasing her. In her efforts to get away from the driver, she crashed her car in what she describes as “a pretty big accident.”

The actress writes that she knocked down a “whole wall” of the school — with children Liam, 4, and Stella, 3, presumably still in the car.

“He then STILL got out to try to get pics,” wrote the horrified mom (dad is her husband, Dean McDermott). “10 school moms chased him away. What will it take? Someone dying for paparazzi to stop?”

Spelling concluded by announcing that she was going to the doctor to have her unborn baby checked out, although she’s pretty sure “it’s just shock.”

We’d probably use a stronger phrase than “just shock.” It’s bad enough that a photographer would terrorize a woman by tailgating her car, and unthinkable that he’d do it to a pregnant woman, on her way to preschool, with her young children in the car. The fact that he kept clicking the camera after she crashed the car? Ridiculous.

There should be a law against this kind of thing and, in fact, there is one in California — but it’s hard to enforce and therefore not very effective. That’s why fellow celeb mom Nicole Richie took things into her own hands last fall, filing restraining orders against paparazzi who had followed her kids to school.

Spelling’s rep tells People, “Tori is really shaken up, but she and the kids are doing fine.”
