Toronto man charged with attempted murder after ex-girlfriend stabbed

A Toronto man has been charged with attempted murder after his ex-girlfriend was stabbed in the head early Sunday.
Police say a man was allegedly waiting at a 39-year-old woman’s home in the Dufferin St. and Lawrence Ave. W. area overnight Sunday.
When the woman arrived home around 2 a.m., she was stabbed once in the top of the head. She was taken to hospital and released.
Police arrested a suspect around 7:30 a.m. Sunday.
Emanuel Almeida, 50, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall court Sunday.
