Toronto’s summer could be one of the driest on record

According to Environment Canada, Toronto could be heading for one our driest summers on record.

Normally, by this time of year, we’ve already received 51 millimetres of rain. But so far, only six millimetres have fallen on the city.

“Weather patterns change every year,” CityNews meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai said.

“In some years, the jet stream is situated such that it drives moisture-laden systems into us. If that jet stream sits little bit to our north or south, it’s going to drive that moisture away, and that’s what’s happening,” she explained.
