Sidney Crosby is practising on ice again

Hockey player Sidney Crosby has resumed on-ice workouts, the Pittsburgh Penguins confirmed Friday.

Frank Buonomo, senior director of  team operations told CityNews.ca in an email that Crosby “has resumed skating as part of his off season training schedule.” But he declined to provide further details.

The news of Crosby’s return to training was first reported in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Friday. The centre player from Cole Harbour, N.S., last participated in on-ice workouts in April before he stopped because of more headaches.

Sources close to Crosby told the paper they believe his headaches were from a sinus infection and not a recurrence of concussion symptoms.

Crosby missed the final 41 games of the 2011 NHL season after he was diagnosed with a concussion in January.
