Boy expected to survive after he nearly drowned in an Etobicoke pool

A 10-year-old boy is in hospital in stable condition after almost drowning in an Etobicoke pool Sunday afternoon.

The boy reportedly had no vital signs when a lifeguard pulled him from the Albion Pool, at Albion Road and Kipling Avenue. CPR was performed until paramedics arrived.

“(The lifeguards) were alert, and it came to their attention that there was a young boy at the bottom of the pool,” said Det. Jason Leitch. “One of the lifeguards swam down, pulled the boy up, started CPR – essentially attended to the boy until the fire department and the ambulance came.”

The child was breathing when paramedics took him to Sick Kids Hospital. He’s expected to survive.
