$1,000 reward offered in Etobicoke cat killing

The Humane Society of Canada is offering a $1,000 reward to help find the culprit responsible for last month’s torture and killing of a grey tabby cat at an Etobicoke park.

The cat was found July 26 in a garbage can at Smyth Park by members of the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. It was bound by the limbs and wrapped in a pillow case and cloth bag.

“The person who needlessly killed this poor animal needs to be brought to justice and punished to the fullest extent of the law,” Al Hickey, HSC Western Regional Director, said in a release.

The person or persons involved can be charged under the federal criminal code, the society said.

Anyone with information should contact Toronto Police Det. Falconer at 416-808-1200 or the Humane Society of Canada at 1-800-641-KIND (5463).
