Runner Scott Cannata has arrived in the Greater Toronto Area as part of a cross-country tour to raise money for cancer research.
The Peterborough, Ont., man will complete a full marathon on Tuesday from Bowmanville, weaving along Highway 2 to Scarborough.
Since the Run to Live started in St. John’s, N.L., on May 1, Cannata has been running 42.2 kilometres a day and has vowed to continue until he reaches Port Renfrew, B.C.
His goal is to raise $500,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society. So far, donations have passed $14,000.
Cannata runs through Toronto on Wednesday.
“As we are planning to go through the downtown core, I am sure that we will make an even bigger impact … and raise the awareness for our cause tenfold,” Cannata said in a statement.
