There are several public ceremonies that will pay tribute to the passionate politician, including Saturday’s state funeral at Roy Thomson Hall – expected to draw thousands in downtown Toronto.
Here’s a breakdown of our coverage:
Watch live streaming coverage from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on CityNews.ca as Layton continues to lie in state on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. We will also cover the official motorcade’s arrival in Toronto Thursday evening on CityNews at Six and on our website.
Layton will lie in repose at Toronto City Hall and CityNews.ca will have live streaming coverage of the public visitation from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
We’ll have a special edition of CityNews at Noon on Citytv. That broadcast – which will also be streamed live on CityNews.ca – will take a closer look at Layton’s life, the memorial events in Toronto as well as the day’s top stories.
Layton continues to lay in repose at City Hall and our online video coverage of the public visitation will run from 9 a.m until 11 a..m.
Later, full coverage of Layton’s state funeral – including the procession from city hall to Roy Thomson Hall, the ceremony, as well as reaction from inside and outside the venue – will be carried live on all Citytv stations beginning at 1 p.m. More on the funeral can be found here.
