Man charged for allegedly trying to force women into prostitution

Police arrested a man they describe as a “high risk offender” this week for allegedly trying to force young women into prostitution.

Investigators believe there may be more victims.

Mark Anthony Burton, who also goes by the names “Ricky Downey” and “Playboy”, was picked up by police on Tuesday and is facing a long list of charges, including living off the avails of prostitution, procuring a person to become a prostitute, theft and sexual assault — 14 in all.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

The 42-year-old allegedly operated in the downtown core and along Kingston Road.

Police are asking any one with information on this suspect to contact them.
