CNE’s last day marks unofficial end of summer

The last day of the Canadian National Exhibition marks the unofficial end of summer.

“I’m not particularly looking forward to school. I like summer,” 13-year-old Caymen told CityNews.

He was one of thousands of Torontonians and tourists who took to the CNE on Monday for one final day of rides, snacks and the midway.

“Mega Drop was crazy. At first, it was calm, and then, it was like, air was coming up,” rider Maya said.

“I’m not psyched” about school, she added.

Another sign of the coming fall? There was a noticeable chill in the air – the forecast called for a low of 11C.

“Usually, when the CNE ends, I notice the weather changing right away,” Angela Arrigo said.

The gates closed 5 p.m. and the grounds stayed open until 10 p.m.
