York Regional police say human remains found in Whitchurch-Stouffville last month belong to a man who had been missing for about two months.
The body of Peter Gavin, 67, was found on Aug. 27. Police say his death was a homicide and are investigating.
Officers said Tuesday they were called by an unnamed person Aug. 24 and asked to check in on Gavin. They went to his home but didn’t find him.
Three days later, a passerby spotted a skull near Warden Avenue and St. John’s Sideroad around 11:30 a.m.
It’s believed that Gavin was missing for two months before his body was found.
