3rd headless rabbit found outside Clarington school

Durham Regional police are investigating a series of animal cruelty cases after a third headless rabbit was found outside a school in Clarington, Ont.

A witness called police to Good Shepherd Catholic School on Farmington Drive on Sept. 15.

“It’s always been an adult that found the rabbits, never a student,” Sgt. Nancy Van Rooy told CityNews.ca.

A “blunt instrument” was used to remove the animal’s head.  It’s the third rabbit found outside the school in the past year. The first was located a year ago and the second was found this spring.

“The same school, always rabbits, always decapitated, always on school property,” Van Rooy said.

“We’re concerned for what it could represent. Psychologists indicate that people who harm animals could go on to harm humans,” she said.

No arrests have been made.
