Suspect sought after Pickering hit & run

An 18-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after a hit-and-run in Pickering early Tuesday.

Police said the teen was struck around 3 a.m. near Broadview Street and Liverpool Road.

A young couple was looking for a cab when the man stepped onto the street to flag a taxi and was hit by a northbound vehicle travelling at full speed.

The suspect vehicle didn’t stop after the collision, police said.

The victim was rushed to a Toronto hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Durham police said the man is the fourth pedestrian struck in the past five days in the region.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them. Police said the suspect vehicle likely has damage to its front end and windshield. No description of the car has been released.
