Toronto enjoys sunny skies, warm weather for the holiday weekend

Torontonians have plenty to be thankful for this holiday weekend, as the city basks under sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures.

Many folks may be tempted to throw the turkey on the barbeque, as temperatures will be in the 20s all weekend long.

Saturday saw a high of 23.8C under sunny skies. With the humidex, this felt like 27C.

“I definitely am finding that I’m wearing shorts and flip-flops to begin with,” said Chris Tatum.

“It is summer-like, to be out here in this beautiful weather,” said Sue Larson.

Sunday will be even warmer, with an expected high of 26C. And although you may be tempted to soak in the sunshine, CityNews weather specialist Sangita Patel advises residents to stay hydrated wear sunscreen and avoid direct exposure during peak hours.

Thanksgiving Monday will also be beautiful, with a high of 24C.

Although this Thanksgiving is expected to be warm, it won’t make the record books. Thanksgiving 2007 Toronto experienced a record high for that date of 31.6C. And for Thanksgiving 2009, it was a chilly 6.7C.
