Teenage girl killed in Vaughan crash

Family, friends and loved ones gathered together Monday night to pay tribute to an 18-year-old girl killed after a car slammed into a hydro pole in Vaughan Sunday night.
Police said the car was heading south on Dufferin Street when the driver lost control and hit a pole north of Major MacKenzie Drive around 11:30 p.m.
All three girls inside were 18 years old.
The front seat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Alessia Morisani. The driver was taken to hospital with critical injuries.
A third woman riding in the backseat suffered minor injuries.
Police still don’t know what caused the driver to lose control. An investigation is ongoing.
“Road conditions were ideal, so they were dry. Weather was not a factor at this time for the collision. However speed was identified as a factor for this collision,” said Sgt. Roman Santos of York Region Police.
Morisani was remembered fondly by those who knew her.
“She was a very, very sweet kid. Special,” said Suzy Arkarakas, a friend of Morisani’s mother.
“She was friends with everybody, she never talked bad about anybody,” said Morisani’s friend Manny.
