Renowned Toronto oncologist Dr. Robert Buckman has died. He was 63.
Buckman worked at Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was known for his ebullient sense of humour. Buckman produced over 45 medical videos with Monty Python’s John Cleese, whom he met while a student in London.
Buckman taught at the University of Toronto’s medical faculty and wrote 14 books. His most recent work focused on doctor-patient communication.
Buckman appeared frequently on CityLine to speak about cancer awareness.
Buckman passed away on a flight from London to Toronto on Sunday. He is survived by his wife and four children.
