Canada’s women’s quad sculls crew wins silver at Pan-American Games

Canada’s women’s quadruple sculls team opened Wednesday’s competition at the Pan American Games with a silver medal.

Rowers Melanie Kok of St. Catharines, Ont., Isolda Penney of Kingston, Ont., and Toronto’s Elizabeth McCord and Audra Vair, finished in six minutes 37.68 seconds.

Argentina (6:34.46) won gold, while the United States (6:39.36) finished third.

Canada had 30 medals by the end of Tuesday’s events, behind only the U.S. in the standings.

Penney won bronze in women’s single sculls on Tuesday.
