Michael Buble launches new holiday album, book

It’s going to be a busy week for Canadian crooner Michael Buble: The three-time Grammy award winner is releasing a holiday album and a new book.

Buble stopped by Citytv’s sister station 98.1 CHFI to discuss his take on traditional Christmas songs.

All I Want For Christmas is one of the greatest Christmas songs written in the last 20 years,” Buble told hosts Erin Davis and Mike Cooper.

“I was inspired, actually, by my bass player who had an arrangement of this song that made it slow and that made it melancholy [sic] and I thought that was a great way to rework the song.”

The record also includes a duet with Shania Twain. The pair collaborated on White Christmas.

“One of the lines that I said was, ‘Santa, buddy, fill my stocking with Canucks tix,’” Buble said.

The album comes out on Monday and Buble’s will release his book, Onstage Offstage on Tuesday.

Buble is known for his candid remarks, but he says Onstage Offstage is not the no-holds-barred memoir that fans might have expected.

“I felt it was too early in my career to have any kind of memoir. But the [publisher] said it’s not a memoir; it’s a coffee-table book… I just don’t want people to get mixed up and think this was like, the memoir,” Buble told The Canadian Press.

“Because really they’ll be disappointed if they think that. I hope it’s nice reading, it’s light reading, it’s fun, it’s quick, but, you know, there’s a lot more pictures than there are words.”
