Air Canada withdraws challenge of arbitrator’s ruling

Air Canada is withdrawing its court challenge of an arbitrator’s ruling on a key pension deal with the union representing its service workers.

The Montreal-based airline says it has decided to withdraw the proposal for a review by the Federal Court of Canada.

The carrier says the decision followed talks between CEO Calin Rovinescu and CAW president Ken Lewenza.

The company says there were valid legal arguments for a judicial review.

But it’s more important employees have clarity on the company’s planned pension reforms.
