Photo of suspect in Toronto’s 36th homicide released

Toronto police have released a photo of a suspect in the shooting death of a Nova Scotia man earlier this month.

The photo of Darnell St. Clair Wright, 32, also known as Darnell Grant, was made available on Wednesday. The 32 year old is wanted in the first-degree murder of Jefflin Beals, who is Toronto’s 36th homicide victim.

Beals, 25, of Dartmouth, N.S., was shot twice in the chest on Oct. 2 near Trinity-Bellwoods Park where a number of Nuit Blanche visual art events were taking place.

Police found Beals lying unconscious between two houses on Crawford Street. He was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Wright of Toronto is described as five-feet, 10-inches tall, 180 pounds, with black hair and possibly some facial hair. He has several tattoos on his body, including his neck.

Police believe he may be heading to the Halifax area, driving in a 2012 four-door, grey Hyundai Sonata with the Ontario licence plate BMDZ 171.

He is considered to be dangerous and armed. Police are asking the public not to approach him but to call 911.
