Penguins’ Staal won’t play in Saturday game against Leafs

Jordan Staal will be out of the Pittsburgh Penguins lineup for Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs

The centre is suffering from a lower-body injury after a collision with New York Islanders forward John Tavares on Thursday.

Staal is considered day to day, but didn’t make the trip to Toronto.

“He wasn’t going to play in this game which is why he’s not here,” said Penguins coach Dan Bylsma.

He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Mark Letestu.

The Penguins will start backup goalie Brent Johnson.
