Goal celebration costly for Iranian soccer players

Two soccer players are being fined after this goal celebration in Iran. CITYNEWS.

Elaborate goal celebrations are common in soccer, but for two Iranian players, their friendly hug has proven costly.

Players leaped on each others’ backs following the goal by Tehran-based Persepolis, and one appeared to slap another on the butt.

Now, Mohammad Nosrati and Sheys Rezaei are facing fines of $40,000 in the country where being gay is a crime — and there are calls for a public lashing.

The action is considered a violation of public chastity.
