Beware of diet foods that make you hungrier

A surprising number of foods that people reach for when they’re on a diet will make them actually hungrier, nutritionists say.

Some of the diet foods include low-fat yogurt, salad with low-fat dressing, chewing gum, puffed cereal with skim milk, apples and diet sodas, according to the American Dietetic Association.

Kyle Byron, a Toronto nutritionist and personal trainer, told CityNews that those diet foods aren’t going to be filling. Healthy meals, which include protein, fats and vegetables, will satisfy and should be the focus.

To hear what he has to say about these diet foods and what to eat in their place, watch CityNews reporter Galit Solomon’s report at CityNews at Six.
