Vigil Wednesday for man found dead in Caledon

Hundreds of family and friends gathered for a vigil Wednesday night for a man found dead in Caledon on Nov. 10.

Devinder Kumar, 38, was discovered on The Gore Road north of Mayfield Road around 11:30 a.m. The vigil was held at that intersection. Kumar is survived by his wife and two daughters, and is being remembered as a true family man.

“The way he will be remembered by everybody I think is just a fun-live, easygoing, caring family man. That’s really at the end of the day what he was. He only cared about two things: his family and his friends,” said Kumar’s brother-in-law, Sam Kataria.

Loved ones are struggling to come to grips with Kumar’s sudden death.

“Tragic. Tragic way to go. Didn’t deserve it, that’s for sure. Nobody does, but Devinder, you’d never think this would happen to a guy like him,” said his friend and colleague Emma.

“You can feel the pain, you can feel the grief. Painful and speechless it is,” said friend Sandip Sangha.

Ontario Provincial Police have not yet said how the realtor died.

Marlon Nurse, 29, and Darryl Plummer, 25, have each been charged with first degree murder and appeared in court on Friday.

A trust fund has been set up for his family. Donations to the Devinder Kumar trust fund can be made at any TD Bank branch.
