Woman found in Port Lands identified

A woman, who was found badly injured in the middle of a street in the Port Lands area Tuesday morning  and later died, has been identified by police as 23-year-old Leanne Freeman of Winnipeg.

A post-mortem exam determined that she died of a gunshot wound, Toronto Police said Tuesday afternoon.

Officers found Freeman lying on Unwin Avenue at Leslie Street bleeding and unconscious just after midnight.

She was rushed to St. Michael’s Hospital with head injuries and died about six hours later.
