Barrie holds holiday food drive for pets

Food drives aren’t just for people, there’s one for Fluffy and Rover too.

The Hungry Bowl Food Drive has been launched in Barrie to collect cat and dog food for the pets of those in need. The drive runs through Dec. 12.

Organizer Catherine Bechard says there are pets in poverty too.

She says many homeless people or the working poor have pets who need to be cared for too.

The campaign will collect both dry and wet pet food to be given out through the David Busby Street Centre and the Barrie Food Bank.

Collection boxes are up at some pet food stores and food bank boxes, as well as in Innisfil, just southwest of Barrie.
