Many Walmart stores to stay open 24-7 until Christmas

In sure sign Christmas is almost here, many GTA Walmart stores are now operating 24-7 until Christmas Eve.
In all, 202 of its 329 stores across Canada will stay open around the clock.
“For the past several years, we’ve been happy to offer 24-hour shopping in communities across Canada during the Christmas shopping period. Flexible hours and one-stop shopping are two of the reasons why Canadians continue to choose Walmart as their destination for holiday shopping,” Jim Thompson, chief operating officer for Walmart Canada said in a statement.
Sally Ritchie of the Retail Council of Canada said: “In the past Canadians weren’t even aware of Black Friday but we saw, this year, quite a heightened interest in it on the part of consumers shopping here in Canada.”
Ritchie doesn’t know how many people take advantage of later holiday hours at local stores, but said retailers wouldn’t be doing it if it didn’t make economic sense.
