Woman charged in parking garage murder

Police have charged a 21-year-old woman with second-degree murder after a man was found dead in a North York parking garage.

Late Friday night, police were called about an unconscious man in the underground lot of an apartment building on Ridley Boulevard, near Highway 401 and Avenue Road.

They found the man beside his car, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been identified as Jason Paglia, 28. An autopsy, yet to be scheduled, will determine how he died.

Police said Sunday they had arrested a Toronto woman, Kaila Dupuis, and charged her with second-degree murder.

Shocked neighbours can’t believe the news.

“I’m stuttering because I just can’t believe it,” said building resident Sara.

CityNews has learned Paglia did not live in the apartment with Dupuis, and was not the father of her young son.

Neighbours report they often heard the couple fighting.

“He did hit her. She came to me after he hit her. She was crying with the baby, she came to me,” said Sara.

Dupuis appeared in an Old City Hall court Sunday morning.
