Woodbridge man’s van found, but baby still missing

Toronto police have located the van belonging to a Woodbridge man who allegedly fled with his nine-week old son before Children’s Aid Society (CAS) could take him.
The 2002 Dodge Caravan was found in Toronto’s west end over the weekend, and York Regional police’s homicide unit will examine it. But police are still looking for Ricky Doodhnaught, 31, and his infant.
The homicide unit took over the case on Friday, but said there is no evidence to suggest the child has been killed.
“[The homicide unit] also investigates missing persons where there is a strong suspicion of foul play,” Det. Sgt. Larry Wilson said.
Doodhnaught is wanted on an arrest warrant for abduction in contravention of a custody order.
On Nov. 24, police and CAS case workers went to the man’s home in Vaughan to apprehend two children under a court order. The mother was arrested there on unrelated charges and one child was taken into CAS custody. But Doodhnaught escaped.
The couple’s second child George — who was in the care of a doctor as recently as Oct. 31 — is now missing.
The premature baby was thought to be either in Doodhnaught’s care or with a relative, but in the last few days Doodhnaught has been seen without him. And officers learned Doodhnaught’s family had not been caring for George.
