Teen arrested after Brampton sex assault

Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy accused of beating and sexually assaulting a Brampton woman Monday afternoon.

Officers said the teen, also from Brampton, approached the 51-year-old woman from behind around 3 p.m., as she was walking her bike through Max Rice Community Park, near Highway 407 and McLaughlin Road South.

He allegedly dragged her into a secluded ravine area and attacked and sexually assaulted her.

He then fled west toward McLaughlin.

Police released a composite sketch of the suspect Thursday and soon after got a tip from the public that led to his arrest.

The teen, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will appear in a Brampton court Friday for a bail hearing.
