A 13-year-old boy has died, another man is still missing after their canoe capsized in the waters of Lake Couchiching Tuesday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to the lake off Lunge Point Lane, near Cumberland Beach. When they arrived, they found a 13 year old boy floating in the water near the overturned canoe.

The boy was rushed to Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. It’s believed hypothermia was a factor.

Investigators are still searching for a missing 23-year-old man who was with the teen. Dive teams are using utilizing underwater sonar technology, in addition to an OPP helicopter.

The two males had set out on a hunting trip from a property on Cumberland Beach. It’s not clear what caused the canoe to capsize.
