Child, man hurt in Victoria Park hit & run

A man is in hospital after a hit-and-run crash on Victoria Park Avenue Saturday afternoon, Toronto police confirm.
The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. on Victoria Park Avenue near Ellesmere Road. There are reports a child may have also been taken to hospital, but there’s no word yet on the extent of the victims’ injuries.
A 50-year-old man was arrested a short distance away from the crash, on Combermere Drive. He was charged with impaired driving and failure to remain.
The suspect vehicle was apparently involved in a second crash after the first collision.
Police closed Victoria Park between Ellesmere and Ivordale Crescent for the investigation. The road was reopened just before 6 p.m.
