Fielder lands with Tigers in $214M deal: Reports

It appears the Prince Fielder sweepstakes are finally coming to an end.

The Tigers are close to locking up Fielder to a nine-year, $214 million deal, according to multiple online reports.

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reported the terms of the deal first.

Fielder, who was the top remaining free agent on the market, finished third in N.L. MVP voting in 2011 after batting .299 with 38 home runs and 120 RBIs. He played in all 162 games as he led the Milwaukee Brewers to the National League Central title.

According to Jon Heyman of CBS, Fielder will play first base with the Tigers, with incumbent Miguel Cabrera moving to a new, yet-to-be-determined position.

The Tigers were looking to upgrade their lineup after losing designated hitter Victor Martinez to a season-ending torn ACL during winter conditioning.
