Ex-Liberal MP John Nunziata faces possible disbarment

A former Liberal MP is set to go before the Law Society of Upper Canada later this month to fight possible disbarment.

The body that governs Ontario’s lawyers is alleging John Nunziata lied under oath about kicking someone.

The law society alleges Nunziata contravened the Law Society Act by “engaging in conduct unbecoming a licensee.”

It says Nunziata testified at a hearing before a justice of the peace on Nov. 6, 2008, that he didn’t kick his ex-wife’s partner, even though he later admitted to it at the trial.

Nunziata was placed on probation for the incident and hit with a restraining order.
