Mayor sheds 20 pounds in 3 weeks

The Super Bowl was likely a tough challenge but the mayor’s weekly weigh-in Monday morning showed he’s lost 20 pounds since launching his Cut the Waist weight-loss campaign three weeks ago.

Ford tipped the scale at city hall at 310.5 pounds. He weighed in at 330 pounds when he began his effort to shed excess pounds on Jan. 16.

His brother Coun. Doug Ford weighed 259 pounds Monday morning, meaning he’s lost 16 pounds in the past three weeks.

The brothers, who’ve not only been watching what they’re eating but also working out, hope to shed 50 pounds each by June 18.

Both Fords refused to answer questions at the event about a transit rebellion led by TTC chair Karen Stintz, who wants the city to dump the mayor’s underground transit plan in favour of a light rail transit (LRT) model approved by council under former mayor David Miller’s watch.

Stintz got 23 councillors to sign a petition to hold a special council meeting on Wednesday to debate LRT options.

Stintz has said she expected to be removed from her position as TTC chair after speaking out against the mayor.
