Stomach virus strikes passengers on 2 Florida-bound cruise ships

The same cruise company involved in the fatal Costa Concordia disaster in Italy is facing another crisis.

About 200 people on two Florida-bound cruise ships were struck with norovirus, Princess Cruise Lines confirmed Monday. The stomach virus causes vomiting and diarrhea.

Passengers and crew on the Ruby Princess and the Crown Princess were affected, the company said. Princess Cruise is a division of Carnival Corp., the company that operates the Costa Concordia.

The Concordia ran aground and partially capsized on Jan. 13, killing at least 17 people. Fifteen others are still missing.

Carnival Corp. is the world’s largest cruise company.
