Madonna will launch her 2012 world tour with a performance in Tel Aviv, Israel, on May 29. She’ll hit Toronto on Sept. 12.
The news of the long-rumoured tour came on the heels of her jaw-dropping Super Bowl halftime show.
The spectacle saw Madonna sing (or lip-sync) to a medley of her hits, including Vogue and Like A Prayer; guest appearances by LMFAO, Cee-Lo, MIA, and Nicki Minaj; acrobats, including a low-wire act; dancers; a drum line; and a gospel choir.
Her Madgesty hasn’t yet said what fans will see on her tour, but expectations are high following her 2008-2009 Sticky and Sweet tour.
Madonna will hit arenas, stadiums, and special outdoor sites – including the Plains of Abraham in Quebec – as the world tour travels through several continents.
Madonna will visit 26 European cities, Australia (she has not performed there in 20 years), South America, and will make her first stop in North America on Aug. 28 in Philadelphia.
Tickets go on sale in North America on Feb. 13.
It will be a busy few months for Madonna. Her new album, MDNA, will be released on March 26.
Pre-sales have already made the record a hit: It’s reached number-one in 51 countries, including Canada.
Madonna performed the first single from the album, Give Me All Your Luvin’, with MIA and Minaj at the Super Bowl.
