3 Canadians arrested in the Dominican Republic for alleged drug trafficking

Three Canadians have been arrested in the Dominican Republic after they were caught trying to leave the country with 18 kilos of what appears to be cocaine strapped to their body, according to reports from within the country.

The Dominican Today reports three Canadian women, all in their 20s and 30s, allegedly had 489, 455 and 438 capsules taped to their bodies, and had traveled to the country several times just this year.

The suspects have been described as “frequent fliers.”

Several Dominicans have also been arrested in connection with the alleged incident. No charges have been laid at this time.
