2nd victim dies after school shooting in Ohio

A second victim has died from a high school shooting in Ohio.

Russell King Junior, 17, was one of five people shot at Monday at Chardon High School, near Cleveland.

Another student,16-year-old Daniel Parmertor, died Monday. Three others are in the hospital.

The alleged shooter — a 17-year-old male — is in custody.

His attorney, Bob Farinacci, read a statement from the family after news of the first victim’s death.

“The family wanted me to convey to the citizens of Geauga County and Northeastern Ohio that the family is devastated by this most recent event. They want to extend their most heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family of the young man who passed and their continuing prayers are with all those who were injured. This is something that could never have been predicted,” Farinacci said.

“He’s a very confused young man right now. He’s very confused, he’s very upset. He’s very distraught himself. This is a very scary circumstance and I don’t think he could have possibly foreseen himself in the middle of.”

Investigators say the teenage gunman opened fire in the school cafeteria.

Classes in the entire Chardon school district are closed Tuesday and grief counsellors are on hand to help students.
