Teen charged with abducting Mississauga boy

Peel police have arrested a 19-year-old man in Mississauga after a 12-year-old boy told his mother he was abducted.

Officers allege the suspect held the boy in the basement of a home on Tillsdown Drive, near Creditview and Britannia roads, for a short period of time.

Police believe a second boy was also abducted, and that he also tried taking three other boys.

“They [boys] were walking in the area and that’s how they were approached. It was completely random,” Peel Const. Fiona Thivierge told CityNews.

Xiang “Jay” Gao, 19, an overseas Chinese student, faces six charges, inducing abduction of a person under 14, uttering threats, forcible confinement and assault.

Gao was arrested Tuesday and was expected to appear in a Brampton court for a bail hearing Wednesday.

Police believe there may be more victims.

Nearby St. Gregory Catholic Elementary School has sent out letters to parents, warning them of a potential predator allegedly trying to lure children.
